Hi-Rez Studios and Titan Forge have officially unveiled SMITE 2, the highly awaited Unreal Engine 5-powered sequel to the mythology-inspired MOBA. “The battleground of the gods has evolved,” touts the devs.

The big reveal took place during the SMITE World Championship kick-off event yesterday, promising improved matchmaking and new game modes with the same core gameplay and mechanics as the original game.

Sign-ups are now open on the official site for a series of early alpha playtests scheduled this spring. Fans can also wishlist the game on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store.

As for the original game, SMITE executive producer Alex Cantatore promised that the game will remain operational well after the sequel’s release. He notes that while SMITE 2 aims to usher in the next generation of third-person action MOBA’s, it won’t be replacing the game that over 40 million players have come to love.

SMITE 2 is expected to soft-launch sometime this year. In the meantime, you can check out the official reveal trailer below.
