Square Enix reported their latest quarterly earnings report last night for the 4th quarter of 2021 with profits up 22% year over year thanks partly due to the successful launch of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, the latest expansion for the critically acclaimed MMORPG. Besides strong sales of the expansion, the game had a "Sharp Rise In The Number of Monthly Paying Subscribers" which likely pushed paying subscriber figures to an all time high.

For the last 9 months, MMO revenues surged from 29.5 billion Yen ($260M) to 48.2 billion Yen ($420M) with operating income (profit) for the MMO division rising as well. The MMO division at Square Enix includes Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI, and Dragon Quest X, though most of the revenue is derived from Final Fantasy XIV. A breakdown between the titles is not reported though.
