Square Enix Releases Final Fantasy XIV Anime Short Set In Limsa Lominsa
Considering the popularity of the Final Fantasy series and the drove of anime fans playing the games, it’s surprising that only one anime series has ever been produced based on the franchise – Final Fantasy: Unlimited. Square Enix, however, has just published a short video giving us a taste of what Final Fantasy XIV would like if it was adapted into an anime.
The video stars an unnamed Miqo’te who wakes up in his room in Limsa Lominsa, the main commercial hub in Final Fantasy XIV. He then heads out into the city where characters from all races and classes are engaged in all kinds of activities. You’ve got characters holding impromptu concerts and dance sessions, racing chocobos, showing off random combat moves, or sitting in the corner crafting goods.
The main character is overwhelmed with everything he needs to do at first but soon realizes that he can just take it slow and do his thing at his own pace. Good advice for anyone jumping into the game for the first time which is probably the point of the video.
Of course, the two-minute video isn’t nearly enough to satisfy our desire for a Final Fantasy XIV anime. But hopefully, there’s more where that came from.
You’ll find the full video after the break. The catch is that it’s in Korean but you can always turn on closed caption or check out this lose fan translation on Reddit.
