Star Wars The Old Republic offers more information and background lore on planet Manaan, one of the key features of the upcoming Legacy of the Sith expansion. The aquatic planet is home to an amphibious species called the Selkath and will probably be familiar to fans of 2003’s Knights of the Old Republic.

The Manaan preview blog is stylized as an Imperial Army intelligence report in preparation for the invasion of the planet. The report offers a brief history of the Empire’s conflict with the Selkath over the healing substance called kolto, the bombardment of the planet, and the amphibious race’s subsequent retreat to their underwater structures.

“In the years since the Selkath returned to the surface and resumed trade with both the Republic and the Empire, it has become increasingly evident that Manaan’s native population have few dedicated allies or friends to call upon. Millennia of isolation have heavily influenced the Selkath’s desire to stand alone, as shown by their steadfast commitment to ‘neutrality.’”

The post also provides information on several points of interest and key locations on the planet, including the half-sunken former Manaan capital of Ahto City, the Mercantile Plaza, the subaquatic valley called Hrakert Rift, and a destroyed underwater facility that could hold the key to creating an army of super soldiers.

The Legacy of the Sith DLC is expected to launch this December as part of the game’s 10th anniversary celebrations and will be free to all subscribers. The DLC will take both Republic and Imperial players to the far reaches of the galaxy as they embark on a full year of conflict, mystery, and intrigue.
