It's been quite some time since I previewed the voxel sandbox game, Stellar Overload, but developer Cubical Drift announced today that it will finally be launching on Steam Early Access on October 12th. In Stellar Overload, players adventure through procedural worlds filled with cubical planets as a "block-thrower-equipped, jetpack-wearing hero who fights evil." Features include the ability to "build, paint, or alter entire sections of wall"; "copy/paste objects in single player or co-op mode"; use resources that have been harvested to enhance equipment; "advanced day/night cycles"; and adjustable "mood/brightness levels for planets." Once Early Access begins, Cubical Drift plans to "add planets, enemies, tools, equipment, and many other features."

Cubical Drift founder and CEO Michel Thomazeau had the following to say about the announcement.

The team at Cubical Drift is every bit as passionate about Stellar Overload and gaming as the community which plays our game. We wanted to stay true to that and tried to deliver a game that would be like us, like our vision of gaming: fun, offering freedom of action and endless possibilities.

More information about the game will be announced on the official website as its release approaches.
