When Adobe Flash was sunsetted in 2020, it took with it thousands of browser-based games that required the plugin to run. Among them was Gameforge’s browser-based MMORPG Tanoth which first launched in 2008.

The studio will soon be bringing the classic MMORPG back to life as an HTML5 game with better visuals, rebalanced mechanics, and new gameplay systems including the Arcane Circle 2.0 which replaces the game’s temporary buffs with permanent upgrades.

“Tanoth, a classic among browser games, returns to the gaming stage with a huge raft of improvements,” the studio announced. “[…] Like a phoenix from the ashes, Tanoth is now back, fully restored in glorious HTML5 to meet the requirements of modern web standards, opening its gates for players to enjoy once more.”

Tanoth is currently in open beta if you want to dive in ahead of its full release which will hopefully come sooner rather than later.
