Temtem’s Tries To Fix Performance Issues On Switch And Camera Motion Sickness

Earlier this week, Crema Games rolled out a patch to address the ongoing performance issues and crashes on the Nintendo Switch version of Temtem. Unfortunately, it looks like it did nothing to solve or at least alleviate the problems.

“We’re aware that Switch issues are still happening, and we’re investigating,” admitted the devs. “We’ll try to have this solved as soon as possible.”

The update wasn’t all for naught, however, as it did introduce several quality-of-life improvements, including the new battle chat and changes to idle battle cameras so it doesn’t cause motion sickness. “In order to reduce motion sickness in some players, we’ve slowed all camera movement to 1/3 of its original movement speed,” said Crema. “They will also start after 12 seconds of inactivity, as opposed to the previous 5 seconds of threshold. This will make them way less prevalent.”

“In the specific case of Koish fishing, we’ve removed most of the camera angles so that only cameras that focus on the Koish patterns appear,” the studio added. “We have also developed some new cameras for this activity in particular that will make identifying the patterns and colors easier.”

Crema Games says that it plans to test out these changes first and gather feedback before resorting to removing the motion-inducing camera movements entirely. “We know idle cameras have caused issues to some our players. Before we go through with disabling them, which would imply we stop receiving feedback and iterating on the feature, we’d like to give these changes a go to improve the main problems the cameras had.”

The update also comes with new background music, gamepad adjustments, various UI enhancements, and a more informative victory screen in ranked matches. You’ll find the official patch notes here
