Tera and Closers Publisher En Masse is Shutting Down
En Masse Entertainment, the publisher behind Tera and Closers, is shutting down after being in business since 2008.
“Today, it is with a heavy heart that we begin the process of discontinuing the business of En Masse Entertainment,” En Masse wrote. “Our focus in the coming weeks and months will be on our team, helping them to find new opportunities, and on our games, to ensure a seamless transition for you.”
En Masse was the publisher that brought Tera to the English market in North America and Europe back in 2012. The game reached over 25 million players worldwide and despite falling in popularity over the last few years, the game still averages 691 players online at any given time on Steam alone. The game is also available off Steam, on Xbox, and PS4.
While we don't know exactly what's going to happen to Tera and Closers, En Masse did say "Rest assured, support for those titles will continue." I suspect this means that these games will either move to a new publisher or will be self-published by their developers. Both games are still up and running today, so nothing is being interrupted, at least not yet.
While its sad to see En Masse go, the only two MMORPGs they were actively involved in was Tera and Closers and both games seem to have plans to continue operating after En Masse shut down.
