Thanatos Launches On Steam

Remember Thanatos, also known as Thanatos: The Dragon Chaser, the only game other than Kal Online that InixSoft has published in the West in the past few years? After an extended period of downtime, the game has relaunched exclusively on Steam.

For those interested, Thanatos provides "co-op dungeons," "dynamic missions and quests," and a variety PvP modes, including guild vs. guild, "occupational battle," and PKing. It is said that there are even mini-games.

For a closer look at the game, I've included Sean's Gumble's Grumbles for the game below.

Matt's Take:

Thanatos felt outdated the first time around and relaunching it on Steam doesn't make it feel any less outdated to me. SteamCharts is reporting that the game has had a maximum of 100 players online since it launched yesterday, which doesn't bode well either. I suppose that I'm not alone in feeling that it looks quite outdated.

Really, the entire saga of InixSoft publishing Thanatos has been a confusing one. The company has always had new games on the horizon, but Kal Online was the only one that ever seemed to last a decent amount of time. Vanilla Gate shut down quickly, although it still resides on InixSoft's homepage even now.

When Thanatos came around, the company's website was rebranded as the GameAgit gaming platform and it seemed as if it was going to try and push the platform while working to publish new titles. Now, Thanatos is available exclusively on Steam and no other titles are scheduled for release via the GameAgit platform. Perhaps that will change in the future, but for now, it seems that InixSoft is hedging its bets on Steam instead.
