The Crew Wild Run Officially Launches

Following a Beta phase that all owners of The Crew were invited to last month, The Crew Wild Run has officially launched. The first major expansion to Ubisoft's MMO-Car-PG is available now on Steam and other platforms for a staggering $24.99. It is not the cheapest of expansions, but, when you consider that the Season Pass was $24.99 and consisted mostly of various cars, it seems to be in line with other DLC for The Crew.
This expansion adds four new vehicle types: dragsters, drift cars, monster trucks, and motorcycles. Each has their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Dragsters are meant for speed, drift cars are meant for outstanding control, monster tricks handle jumps better than any other class of vehicle, and motorcycles are intended to be well-rounded on and off the road.
Wild Run's main attraction, however, is The Summit. Called the "largest challenge in a driving game to date," The Summit challenges players to "showcase their talents across the widest range of skillsets and terrains." Summits will be three day events that take place in "iconic US locations." There will be two Qualifiers for these events per week. The best in each will compete in the Monthly Summit Finale for a chance to win an exclusive vehicle.
Players will now be able to challenge friends in FreeDrive activities. Players will be able to create their own races in the open world by stringing together various activities. New activities will be made available, as well, and will be tuned to the new vehicles' strengths.
In more surprising news, Ubisoft will be updating The Crew with a two hour free trial on all platforms. Players who begin their adventure in the free trial will have access to the prologue, the open world, and the beginning of the campaign. Various Extreme Spec Trials will be made available, as well, so that new players can demo the new vehicle classes.
A free update with "updated graphics, new lighting effects, redesigned areas adapted for all types of vehicles, and the all-new weather system" is being made available for all players alongside the release of Wild Run. For more information, head to the Steam store page. Be sure to check out the trailer below for a look at the new vehicle classes.
