The Cycle: Frontier has soft launched on Steam and the Epic Games Store and is now free-to-play on both platforms. Developer Yager has also kicked off the PvPvE shooter’s pre-season in preparation for the start of Season 1 and official release on June 22nd.

“Experience a high-stakes mix of PvE and PvP action on your own or with friends in a dynamic sci-fi world featuring persistent maps and seamless matchmaking. Pre-Season is the perfect time to dive in before the release of Season 1 on June 22, delivering the full suite of items and rewards coming in the new edition of the Fortuna Pass.”

The pre-season debut includes updates and improvements based on player feedback gathered during the game’s previous playtests. According to the official press release, over 900k players participated in the Alpha and Beta tests which made the game one of the most wishlisted free-to-play games on Steam.

Welcome Packs containing unique outfits, weapon skins, various gear, and in-game currency are currently available for purchase on your digital storefront of choice at 25% off. The packs come in four tiers, priced at $9.74 for the Initiate Pack, $22.49 for the Professional Pack, $37.49 for the Specialist Pack, and $93.74 for the Elite Pack.

The Elite Pack in particular has players complaining about its pay-to-win contents. Aside from cosmetics and in-game currency, the pack also comes with a full set of Elite weapons and armor which gives players a definite edge over everyone else who’ll be starting from scratch. Reviews are currently “Mixed” on Steam because of the reportedly pay-to-win pack and bugs that hadn’t been addressed from closed beta.

The Cycle: Frontier is free-to-play so you can always check it out yourself on Steam or the Epic Games Store, or even both. But before you do that, don’t forget to check out the official launch trailer below.
