The Day Before Servers Going Offline For Good Next Month Following Fntastic’s Closure

The Day Before’s extremely short but infamous run is about to end next month as developer Fntastic officially ends its operations. The servers will be going offline on January 22, 2024, less than two months after the zombie survival MMO’s disastrous launch.

For those who haven’t been following the game’s rocky journey, The Day Before launched on Steam on December 7, following multiple delays and a trademark battle with a Korean-made calendar app of the same name. The game’s launch, however, was marred by glaring issues, not the least of which is its clearly rushed and unfinished state.

Players complained about virtually every aspect of the game, from server issues and bugs, to the lack of meaningful activities and extremely rare zombie encounters. The game was also advertised as an MMO but technically ended up being a multiplayer game with instanced areas that could support up to 32 players.

Needless to say, the game was immediately review-bombed on Steam and refund requests came flooding in just hours after its launch. Subsequently, Fntastic quickly ran out of money to support the game’s development and live operations, forcing them to ultimately admit defeat and announce the closure of the studio and eventually the game.

Since it’s launch, The Day Before has become the butt of memes and jokes among the video game community. There was even a cheeky survival bundle sale named after the beleaguered zombie game.

Refunds are still being processed at this time, although you do have to submit a refund request via Steam if you’re looking to get your money back.
