The Tolkien Professor To Interview Lord Of The Rings Online Dev

lotro-gandalf-newsFilm, TV, and video game adaptations of best-selling fantasy novels have become somewhat a trend during the past decade. This ever-growing list of adaptations include Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones), and of course J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings which has inspired not one, but two movie trilogies, along with a number of video game adaptations, including The Lord of the Rings Online.

Senior Content Designer Jeffrey Libby, a.k.a. MadeofLions, will be sitting down with Dr. Corey Olsen, President of Signum University, to talk about his adaptation of Tolkien’s works for The Lord of the Rings Online.

“Dr. Corey Olsen has been playing Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) for two years now, during which he has been fascinated by the adaptation of Tolkien’s work that the game has undertaken. In this special session, he will have a discussion with Jeffrey Libby, known in the LOTRO world as MadeofLions, Senior Content Designer on the LOTRO team at Turbine since 2005.

The two will discuss the epic story line, writing for gameplay, and the relationship between the LOTRO stories and Tolkien’s books.”

Dr. Olsen specializes in medieval literature and has been studying Tolkien’s works for all his life. He even teaches full semester courses dedicated to the author’s works, which has earned him the title, The Tolkien Professor.

Join the event which will be held on Thursday, October 16th through the Signum University website. Meanwhile, watch Dr. Olsen discuss LOTRO lore with Chris Pierson and Professor Michael Drout in the video below.
