Chinese publisher 360 Games has acquired the rights to publish the cubed world of Trove in the Middle Kingdom. The game made an appearance Chinajoy 2016 to reveal itself to future players. The game will be making some adjustments in preparation for a China release, including new PvP modes that have yet to be disclosed.

It's interesting to note that part of localization will include a more "hand-holding first experience," according to VentureBeat. Apparently Chinese players don't want to work to figure out how to play. They want to be told:

“For our players, learning how to play the game is part of the fun,” said Hartsman [Trion Worlds founder and chief executive]. “For 360’s players, that’s not really the case. They want something that has more guidance.”

Perhaps the hand-holding attitude helps explain the popularity of autonomous systems in browser games.

Trove has been fairly successful in the West. The game has a stable population around 6,700 players through Steam, but Trion is banking on China's massive 300 million PC player audience to bolster the playerbase. I'm predicting success.
