Lord of the Ring Online’s version of Middle Earth just got a little bit bigger as the new Wildwood zone opens its forested roads to brave adventurers with the release of Update 29.

Wildwood is a new mid-level zone located between the low-level zones of Bree-land and Evendim. The level 45 zone features a new questline, repeatable quests, missions, and Deeds. Wildwood is also home to two new reputation factions: The League of the Axe and the Woodcutter’s Brotherhood.

“Beyond the Bree-fields lies the lightly travelled wilderness of the Wildwood. This heavily forested area has drawn the attention of two groups of Free Peoples who vie for its resources. The League of the Axe, a group of game hunters and miners down on their fortunes, seek to tap the land's resources and ferry their bounty down the Brandywine from Trader's Wharf to markets abroad. Meanwhile, a group of villagers in Trestlebridge have formed the Woodcutter’s Brotherhood, with the goal of taking advantage of the Wildwood to benefit the folk of Bree-land and rebuild Trestlebridge to its former glory. Both factions must decide the fate of the Wildwood as they work against unsavory Brigands and the Tarkrîp Orcs.”

Aside from a new zone, Update 29 also adds three new Eriador-based 3-player scaling instances: “Agoroth, the Narrowdelve” and “Woe of the Willow”. The new instances are free for VIP subscribers and can also be purchased through the in-game store. Although not required, players can opt to take on introductory quests for the new instances from Aragorn in Rivendell after successfully completing Book 13, Chapter 10: A Triumphant Return” and from Shirriff Hob Hayward at the Buckland Gate in Bree-land.

The update also marks the start of the annual Spring Festival which offers a new Festivity instance called Bee’s Big Business featuring Grimbeorn the Old as well as a new 6-player boss called Naruhel the Red Maid.

There’s also class tweaks, housing improvements, and fixes aplenty. You can browse through the Update 29 release notes on the Lord of the Rings Online official site. You can also take a tour of the new zone in the Wildwood launch trailer below.
