Riot Games brought Valorant to a whole new demographic when it launched the popular team shooter on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S over the weekend. The launch marked a huge milestone for Riot as it’s the studio’s very first live service title to be released on consoles.

Not everyone will be able to play Valorant on consoles, however, as it’s currently only available in selected regions including the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan. Riot Games has also opted to keep console and PC players completely separate with no plans of allowing cross-play between the two platforms to preserve the “competitive integrity” of the game. In other words, console players won’t have to worry about going up against the superior aiming prowess of mouse and keyboard users.

A recent patch also added the Icebox map on consoles, basic training on PC, and stricter penalties for toxicity and comms abuse on both platforms. Details can be found in the full patch notes here. Console players new to the game can also “git gud” by checking out this handy beginner’s guide.
