Calling all Potterheads! Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is giving the gaming community one of their first looks at actual gameplay footage from Hogwarts Legacy, an in-development open-world RPG set in the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter.

The gameplay spotlight will take place during a special PlayStation State of Play stream scheduled on March 17th and will feature 14 minutes of extended gameplay footage on the PlayStation 5. Key members of the development team will also be sharing their more information about the game during the show.

“Since we first revealed Hogwarts Legacy, the trailer has been viewed over 28 million times on the PlayStation YouTube channel. We promised to share more this year, and we’re finally ready to deliver on that promise,” wrote Community Manager Chandler Wood.

For those who are just hearing about the game, Hogwarts Legacy will drop players into the shoes of a student at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the late 1800’s, well before the events of J.K. Rowling’s original novels. Players will be able to explore the famous wizarding school as well as surrounding locations such as the village of Hogsmeade and the Forbidden Forest as they learn spells, brew potions, and master wand combat.

The game will also feature a morality system as well as an in-depth customization system that will let player customize their character’s gender, body type, voice, and their wand.

“Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. You have received a late acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soon discover that you are no ordinary student: you possess an unusual ability to perceive and master Ancient Magic. Only you can decide if you will protect this secret for the good of all, or yield to the temptation of more sinister magic.”

Hogwarts Legacy was initially scheduled to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in 2021 but was delayed to sometime later this year. You can check out the official reveal trailer from 2020 right down below.
