A plethora of announcements came out of the Anaheim Convention Center in Los Angeles where BlizzCon was held in physical form for the first time in four years. One of the highlights of the convention was the announcement of not one, but three World of Warcraft expansions that will be part of a larger overarching narrative called the Worldsoul Saga.

The first expansion of the series, titled The War Within, is set to launch sometime next year, followed by Midnight, and finally The Last Titan.

Blizzard has followed up the announcements with a bit more information on their release timelines. It’s still a bit vague but it does offer a rough estimate of when each expansion will potentially come out. Apparently, it’s going to be a shorter wait between each expansion as the studio appoints two separate teams to work on the first two expansions at the same time with the hope of completing the entire saga before 2030.

“We can’t get into specifics, but yes it will be faster. We want to ensure that players aren’t completing this saga in 2030,” the studio said.

As rumored, The War Within will take players back to Azeroth, to the depths of Khaz Alghar, the home of a race of titan-forged Dwarves called the Earthen. The Earthen will be a playable race and will mark the first time that Horde players will get to play as a Dwarf, albeit one that’s a bit larger than its Alliance counterpart. Players who choose the Earthen will be able to roll nearly every available class except Druids, Demon Hunters, and Evokers.

The War Within will also introduce the highly praised Warbands feature for alternate characters, a new cross-faction allied race called the Delves, hero talents, and a level cap increase to 80. The expansion will be available in three editions, starting at $49.99 for the Base Edition, $69.99 for the Heroic Edition, and $89.99 for the Epic Edition which will controversially include beta access and a controversial three-day head start. It’s worth noting, however, that players who’ll get to jump in ahead of the everyone else will be locked out endgame content including Mythic encounters for the duration of the head start period.

As for Dragonflight, Guardians of the Dream is set to launch today and will be the final major update for the expansion, although players can still expect more story content as well as a new battleground in the near future.
