As promised, the Elder Scrolls Online dev team has dropped a boatload of information on the upcoming Legacy of the Bretons High Isle Chapter.

“Something is amiss in High Isle, the home of the chivalric Breton elite. The idyllic Systres Archipelago is now on the brink of total catastrophe, and a sinister cabal works from the shadows to throw all of Tamriel into unending conflict. Team up with new Companions and allies, explore stunning new lands, play a hand of the all-new deck building card game, Tales of Tribute, and continue your Legacy of the Bretons adventure in The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle.”

During the preview stream, the team revealed that they wanted to go someplace new for this year’s ESO narrative, and the Elder Scrolls franchise in general, after the nostalgia-inducing adventures through Skyrim and Oblivion. Hence, the new and never-before-seen Mediterranean-inspired islands of High Isle and Amenos. This year’s storyline will also revolve more around courtly intrigue rather than preventing the destruction of Tamriel by some malevolent being.

High Isle is set in the Systres Archipelago a small chain of islands located across the Abecean Sea and Eltheric Ocean. Players who brave the long journey to these islands will find themselves up against a secret order of knights called the Ascendant Order that threatens to disrupt peace talks between the Alliances and establish a crownless utopia.

“[…] The story of this year’s Chapter focuses on political intrigue, and High Isle is the perfect getaway destination for alliance delegates to take on peace talks that would put an end to the Three Banners War. While the summit is hosted by the noble Society of the Steadfast, players should beware of The Ascendant Order and their chaotic motives.”

Along the way, they’ll meet familiar faces, new factions, two major political houses, and the Breton noble Lady Arabelle. They’ll also have to contend with members of the Ascendant Order, ghost ships, and volcanic vents that appear out of nowhere with two new companions to fight by their side.

“Players will have access to two all-new companions, Ember, a Khajiit who grew up on the streets and has a knack for magic, and Isobel, a Breton and aspiring knight who feels called to do right by players.”

Those who want to take a break from the political intrigue can also enjoy a new form of entertainment in the form of the Tales of Tribute card game.

“Also new in 2022 is a brand-new card game called Tales of Tribute, playable within the world of ESO. Invented in High Isle, this is a unique, resource-building game complete with PvP and PvE. Players can even increase their rank through Tales’ own leveling system. Plus, there are cool rewards to be unlocked like furnishings, transmute stones, and even advancing a storyline by competing against specific NPCs around the world.”

High Isle arrives on PC/Mac and Stadia on June 6th while PlayStation and Xbox players will have to wait until June 21st to begin their journey on the new islands.
