Development History / Background:

Landmark was originally developed by Sony Online Entertainment before SOE was sole to private equity group Columbus Nova and the company was re-branded as Daybreak Game Company. Landmark was developed alongside EverQuest Next until EQ Next was cancelled in March, 2016. Early Access released through Steam on May 13, 2014  Development on Landmark slowed in June, 2015 when Daybreak announced they would be shifting their focus to EverQuest Next. However, upon EQ Next's cancellation, it was announced that Landmark would release in Spring, 2016. The game has met substantial criticism for its slow development, unoptimized gameplay, and perceived abandonment. In May 2016 Daybreak announced that Landmark would officially launch on June 10, 2016 after being in Early Access for two years.
