Fate/Grand Order - The Clock Tower: London Content Guide

Fate/Grand Order London Content Guide

fgo-london

Hello again everyone and welcome to another installment of The Clock Tower. We’ve recently been graced with the latest update which features new Craft Essences, New Servants, and a completely new London Campaign.

Since I haven’t finished my London campaign yet, as I am doing a 3 star streamed clear, this guide will first be a comprehensive content guide. I will create a guide for the London campaign soon!

Updates

  • Quick Guide
    • Level cap increased from 100 -> 120.
    • New Mystic Code choices added.
    • Ascended portraits now appear on party select and formation screens.
    • A new Command Seal action "Release" added.
      • Increases NP by 100% for target Servant.
    • Several QoL changes.

A Master max level cap increase has been added from 100 to 120! This opens up more possibilities for team compositions and will make special events a lot easier to build for with event CEs.

The new Mystic Code system also adds a lot of new choices both aesthetically and practically, as we can now change our character’s appearance and spell loadout. To further the aesthetic awesomeness players can also see their Servants in fully ascended glory on the party creation screen.

Several quality of life changes have been added with a much more readable leveling system, exp cards being easier to pull from the giftbox and more.

Servants

  • Quick Guide
    • Loadout: Quick, Arts, Arts, Buster, Buster
    • Skills:
      • Prana Burst A: Increases Buster Card effectiveness by 30% (max 50%)
      • Instinct B: Gains 4 (max 14) Critical Stars
      • Secret of Pedigree EX: Increases defense by 30% (max 50%)  for 1 turn, Charges NP by 10% (max 30%) and removes all debuffs.

With the influx of “Saberfaces,” and the addition of Lancer Alter to the story, there was no more perfect time for the Treacherous “Son” of King Arthur to make an appearance. Being born from a circumstance of Merlin and Morgan’s magic, she manifests “daddy issues” after being rejected by her “father” which lead her down the path to rebellion.

She has slightly higher offensive capabilities than her father with 11723 maximum attack power compared to Artoria’s 11221. Her Noble Phantasm “Clarent Blood Arthur” is about equivalent to Excalibur as well but deals a high amount of bonus damage (180%-220% by overcharge), to her father specifically. This is not to be mistaken with “Saberfaces” as this effect only currently triggers against Artoria Pendragon, Artoria Pendragon (Lily), Artoria Pendragon (Alter) and Artoria Pendragon (Lancer Alter).

Mordred’s abilities go hand in hand with Artoria's but trades Charisma for Secret of Pedigree EX which increases her defense by 30% (max 50%) for 1 turn and increases her Noble Phantasm by 10% (max 30%). The sweet spot for Secret of Pedigree is skill level 6 which will cost you 15 Octuplet Twin Crystals but will combo with Kaleidoscope for an instant Noble Phantasm. It also removes all debuffs which is great for attack down and defense down type statuses but will not work against more important ones like Charm and Stun since you cannot use a skill while in those statuses.

One thing to take note of, however, is that Mordred also builds Noble Phantasm slower per hit than other comparable Anti-Army Sabers but also has 3 hits on her Arts and 4 hits on her Extra to help alleviate this. You’ll want to take advantage of this when choosing your attack order as her Quick only has 2 hits.

Artistically she has very clean animations but the sounds stand out the most, bringing a visceral feel to every strike as her sword crackles.

All things considered, Mordred is looking to be a very solid 5★ Leader despite lacking team utility. With her roughly 500 extra attack power she can dish out some serious damage and can unleash an unassisted turn 1 Noble Phantasm with Kaleidoscope.

  • Quick Guide
    • Loadout: Quick, Arts, Buster, Buster, Buster
    • Skills:
      • Galvanism B: Increases NP charge rate by 25% (max 45%).
      • Lament of False Life: 60% chance to stun an enemy and reduces their defense by 10% (max 20%) for 1 turn.
      • Overload C: Increases Noble Phantasm Power by 20% (max 30%) and burns self for 300 for 5 turns.

Frankenstein, or Victor Frankenstein’s Monster to be more correct, joins the Grand Orders in the form of a Berserker. This tragic servant, who only wanted a partner in life, carries a giant mace-like reactor with her called the “Bridal Chest” that she uses to inflict damage on her foes.

As a Berserker she fills a new role as a NP-focused Berserker that has the tools to function with an NP team. Right out of the gate she has Galvanism B which increases her NP gain by 25% (max 45%) for three turns which also synergizes with her high NP gain for a Berserker at 0.83% per hit.

Her Noble Phantasm “Blasted Tree” does high damage to all enemies despite being a Quick-Type that doesn’t benefit from Mad Enhancement (Buster Up). It comes out easily and also synergies with her other two skills: “Lament of False Life” D to reduce the target’s defense by 10% (max 20%) and chance of stunning, as well as Overload which increases her Noble Phantasm damage by 20% (max 30%) at the expense of some health.

Her Buster Striking is going to be a bit lackluster among other comparable Berserkers with a lower end Attack stat of 9441 and the inability to Brave Chain her Blasted Tree (since it stuns her for the rest of the turn and the next turn). However, she seems more focused on her ability to bring out her NP and can do extremely well in an AoE team composition.

  • Quick Guide
    • Loadout: Quick, Arts, Arts, Arts, Buster
    • Skills:
      • High Speed Incantation A: Charges NP instantly by 55% (max 80%)
      • Elemental A+: Increases effectiveness of Arts cards by all allied Servants by 10% (max 20%) for 3 turns.
      • Philosopher's Stone A: Grants Battle Continuation to an ally for 1000 HP (max 3000)

16th Century Alchemist and “father of Toxicology” Paracelsus comes to us in the form of a Caster. His claim to fame within the story is being the original creator of the Azoth Sword, which you can see in an uncommon Craft Essence. This isn’t his first rodeo however, as he also appears in Fate/Prototype.

In terms of Grand Orders he fills a much needed hole as a 3★ Caster with an Arts AoE Noble Phantasm and he does indeed bring it. Although not as strong as Medea’s, he comes with High-Speed Incantation A at level 1 which increases his own Noble Phantasm gauge instantly for 55% (max 80%). His Noble Phantasm “Sword of Paracelsus” deals decent damage (despite being Arts type) due to having a rank up in his interlude when compared to other Casters in his class, which can take advantage of his 6711 Attack Power, Territory Creation A (Arts +10%) and his buffs.

His biggest selling point however is Elemental A+ which definitely leaves him as a serious consideration for Arts-centric teams which increases Arts Effectiveness by 10% (max 20%) for 3 turns. Not only does this increase damage but also increases NP gain which is something he’s going to seriously need due to an incredibly low Base NP gain at 0.55% per hit.

His final ability Philosopher’s Stone allows him to grant Battle Continuation to an ally which keeps them alive through a lethal hit and heals them. This can be nearly as good as a targeted dodge in most situations, allowing you to keep an ally alive through an enemy Noble Phantasm.

All in all he’s a great offensive Caster, but will require an Arts team to be used at his full potential.

  • Quick Guide
    • Loadout: Quick, Arts, Arts, Buster, Buster
    • Skills:
      • Single-Mindedness C: Increases NP charge rate by 20% (max 30%) and increases Critical Star weight by 500% (max 100%) for 3 turns.
      • Mechanized Armor EX: Increases Attack Power by 15% (max 25%) and grants Invincibility for 1 turn.
      • Overload D: Increases Noble Phantasm Power by 15% (max 25%) for 1 turn and burns self for 300 over 5 turns.

How would the man credited as the “Father of the computer” join a war of legends? In a giant mech of course! Charles Babbage brings a bit of technomancy and steampunk to FGO with his extremely odd setup.

Compared to most Casters Babbage trades 1 Arts card for an additional Buster and he also lacks Territory Creation. It almost seems that he was set up originally to be a Saber but was immediately changed into a Caster.

He has some great skill potential but his abilities seem a bit confused design-wise. Single-Mindedness C increases his Noble Phantasm gain by 20% (max 30%) and increases his Critical Star weight by 500% (max 1000%), but he does not have a single ability that increases his critical damage and has a very low base Critical Weight.

Mechanized Armor EX is his equalizer, giving him a 15% Attack Power boost (max 25%) for 1 turn and full invincibility. Overload D increases his Noble Phantasm Power by 15% (max 25%) for 1 turn but also burns him for 300 damage for 5 turns. These abilities only last one turn but are crucial for his damage as he has an extremely low 5996 Attack Power which is further reduced by lack of a passive like Territory Creation and the Caster Class penalties (90% Attack).

His Noble Phantasm “Dimension of Steam” would normally deal average damage, but due to not gaining the benefits of a passive and his low attack, it will be hard to rely on it for an AoE clear. It does apply a supportive Defense Down to the entire enemy team for 10% (max 20% on overcharge).

Charles will need some help with CEs to boost his usability. If you want to go on with the intended design and play to his strengths, you could try to use the 5★ CE “Another Ending,” which increases Arts cards effects and critical attack damage. He’s still a bit outclassed by other Casters in 3★, but he does bring an interesting and unique playstyle to the table.

jekyll-plate

  • Quick Guide
    • Loadout: Quick, Quick, Arts, Buster, Buster
    • Skills:
      • Monstrous Strength B: Increases Attack Power by 5% (max 15%), additional stacking 25% (max 35%) for Hyde.
      • Voice of Panic A: Increases chance to apply status effects by 5% (max 15%) and has a 10% chance to Stun an enemy, additional stacking 85% (max 135%) to apply status effects for Hyde.
      • Self-Modification D: Increases Critical Damage by 5% (max 15%), additional stacking 25% (max 35%) for Hyde.

The meek Dr. Jekyll and the insane Mr. Hyde come together as a single package. Although he represents the Assassin class at first glance, his Noble Phantasm has the ability to turn him into a deadly Berserker with an HP total that rivals most 5★’s.

Surprisingly he is only a 3★ despite his unique ability to change sprites and transform into a completely different character upon unleashing Dangerous Game—which can increase his max HP by up to 6000. In addition Mr. Hyde comes into play with full HP and he receives a permanent Buster Up of an insane 40% (max 80%).

His three skills should always be used in Hyde form as they become immensely more powerful. Monstrous Strength B boosts his attack by only 5% as Jekyll, but as Hyde this bonus increases this by an additional 25% (max 15%+35%) for 3 turns. Voice of Panic A is an amazing targeted 1 turn stun with a base stun chance for 10% but adds Debuff Chance Up 5%+85% (max 15%+135%) in Hyde form making it a very reliable form of cc. Self-Modification D further drives the insanity home with a 5%+25% (max 15%+35%) boost in Critical Damage for 3 whole turns. Hyde receives 2 buffs when using his skills, one for Jekyll and one for Hyde.

For his strategy you’ll want to bring Hyde out as soon as possible—so pairing him with base NP boosters like Kaleidoscope and Imaginary Number Magecraft will help to bring out his full potential. His main drawback is his lack of an actual Noble Phantasm, but he makes up for this with his insane buffs. Berserkers also normally have trouble building Noble Phantasm so the lack of it is not too big of a loss.

The addition of the transformation tech to the game is an amazing foreshadowing of what kinds of interesting mechanics FGO might have in store for the future.

Craft Essences

500 Years Of Dedication

500years

When this Servant is defeated, seals the killer’s Noble Phantasm for 2 turns and curses them for  1000 damage for 10 turns. Limit break increases damage to 2000.

-Commentary-

Seems to be a very hard CE to pull off. Since it specifically targets the killer it isn’t useable with self-destructive Noble Phantasms such as Arash’s. Normally a Noble Phantasm will be what will kill you to begin with and the damage takes too long to mature and deals too little even when Limit Broken. I believe this will be a very hard CE to justify using, even over 3★ ones.

Awakened Will

awakenedwill

60% Chance to gain 12% NP each turn. Unit loses 500 HP per turn. Limit Break increases the potential NP gain to 15%.

-Commentary-

Slightly better than the previous CE in the set and could have been incredible if not for the low proc rate. The inconsistency will make it difficult to use, but it can be used as a substitution for Prisma Cosmos if you do not have it.

Necromancy

necromancy

50% Chance for a Servant to revive with 500 HP when defeated. Limit Break increases the HP gain to 1000 HP.

-Commentary-

Another card that unfortunately relies on chance. When it procs it works well, but the consistency of Nightless Rose is worth the extra mana cost. It does work with self-destructive abilities like Arash’s Noble Phantasm which can make it a hilarious combo to keep him into the fight after using it. All in all it’s hard to justify using when there are so many strong CEs out there.

Clock Tower

clocktower

Servant gains 2% NP each turn. Limit break increases this to 3%.

-Commentary-

The effect here is so low that I can’t see it being that useful. It will take 15 turns in total to bypass Ley Line (Servant starts with 30% NP). Because of this fact I find Clock Tower to be absolutely useless and there is no reason to ever use it.

Mystic Codes

Three new mystic codes have been added that can be obtained by completing three new quests in the Chaldea Gate. They can be switched out in the Formation Menu under “Master”. Simply swipe to the left or right to cycle through your outfits to select the one you’d like to use.

Each Mystic Code is individually leveled, so you will need to equip them to increase their power.

Mage’s Association Uniform

clocktower

Heal All: Recover all allied Servants by 800 (max 2800).

Spiritron Transfer: Charges a Servant’s Noble Phantasm by 20%.

Command Shuffle: Reshuffles card deck.

-Commentary-

Despite only having a single spell that scales the abilities on this Mystic Code are quite strong for clear teams. Spiritron Transfer can combo with Kaleidoscope for a turn 1 Noble Phantasm and Command Shuffle can potentially get you out of awkward draws. Heal All is stronger than the Chaldea Standard Uniform heal generally but you will be lacking the ability to protect your Servants from enemy Noble Phantasms.

Atlas Institute Uniform

atlas

Dust of Osiris: Makes an allied Servant Invicible for 1 turn.

Rain of Isis: Dispel Debuffs on an allied Servant.

Eye of Medjed: Reduces an allied Servant’s skill cooldowns by 2.

-Commentary-

Probably the weakest of the four current Mystic Codes, it offers a slightly stronger version of Emergency Evasion that will protect you from anti-dodge mechanics. The other two abilities are a bit of a niche as Dispel Debuffs can be used with characters like Jeanne D’Arc to unstun yourself and Eye of Medjed can be strong with Servants with powerful short-cooldown skills.

Chaldea Combat Uniform

chald-bat

Reinforce All: Increases the Attack of all allied Servants by 20% (max 30%) for 1 turn.

Gandr: Stuns an enemy Servant.

Order Change: Switch a Servant with one in reserve.

-Commentary-

Possibly the strongest Mystic Code. Reinforce is great for cases that you want to do a full nuke triple Noble Phantasm, Gandr is great for stunlocking a single strong enemy and Order Change can fulfill several combos. With Order Change for example you could swap in a support Servant such as David and use him to block an enemy Noble Phantasm. There are numerous combinations that make this ability effectively several abilities in one.

There was quite a lot of new content during this Holiday Season and we still have yet to cover the London Campaign and the New Years Event. We'll be trying to get those up as soon as possible!

I hope this guide helps you traverse the mists of London! As always special thanks go out to the FGO English Translations Twitter, Beasts Lair and the FGO Wiki. Good luck and may Kirei be kind.
