Abyss Online Gears Up For ‘Semi-Closed’ Alpha Testing This Holiday Season

Old World Labs will be partially opening the doors to Abyss Online in a series of “semi-closed” alpha tests over the next two months. The holiday playtest will apparently focus on testing the PvP sandbox MMORPG’s backend tech following its reported transition from a blockchain title to one that’s purely for entertainment purposes.

The team has yet to offer more details on the scale and scope of the alpha test but admitted that it’s going to be a rough build with plenty of bugs and issues for testers to unearth. The game itself promises “a reactive world” that evolves and changes based on player actions with a procedural quest system that relies on AI to generate dynamic content.

Old World Labs is currently accepting sign-ups for the upcoming playtest on the Abyss Online official website and through this Google form. As of this writing the game is still on track for early access launch in April 2024.
