We’ve got two big Activision Blizzard news items for you today leading with this week’s shareholder vote on the proposed Microsoft buyout.

Activision Blizzard King (ABK) shareholders voted on Microsoft’s proposed acquisition earlier this week with the majority voting in favor of the deal. As previously noted, Microsoft will be purchasing the entirety of ABK’s shares at $95 a pop for a total of $69 billion in cold, hard cash. With the shareholder’s blessings, the two companies can now start finalizing the details of the merger which just might be what ABK needs to get back on their feet.

“Today’s overwhelmingly supportive vote by our stockholders confirms our shared belief that, combined with Microsoft, we will be even better positioned to create great value for our players, even greater opportunities for our employees, and to continue our focus on becoming an inspiring example of a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive workplace,” said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick.

There’s still no word on what will happen to Kotick once the deal pushes through and the baton is transferred to Microsoft Gaming CEO and Xbox Head Phil Spencer.

On the topic of leadership, World of Warcraft Classic Lead Holly Longdale has been named the new executive producer of both the Classic and Retail versions of the MMORPG. Her promotion won’t have much of an effect on the current leadership dynamic since both Ion Hazzikostas and John Hight will still retain their current positions as game director and general manager for the Warcraft franchise, respectively.

“It’s an honor to work with this team and these games. My heart is full! Cheers to the future we will continue to build together — both players and the teams,” tweeted Longdale.
