Albion Online Game Director Talks About Corrupted Dungeon Mechanics In A New Video

albion online corrupted dungeon invasion bannerThe Rise of Avalon update is now live in Albion Online bringing with it the new Corrupted Dungeon PvEvP instance. Game Director Robin Henkys explains how they work in his most-recent video.

According to Henkys, entrances to the Corrupted Dungeons will randomly spawn in the game world similar to Solo Randomized Dungeons. Once you find one of these entrances, you can then choose from one of three difficulty levels: Hunter, Stalker, and Slayer.

The Hunter difficulty setting is perfect for learning the basics of 1v1 PvP and will let you run the dungeon without full-loot PvP and a low item softcap but with tuned-down rewards. The Stalker difficulty is recommended for veteran PvP players and will feature full-loot PvP with better rewards but will still have a low item softcap. The Slayer difficulty is only advisable for elite PvP players and will offer better rewards, a higher item softcap, and a more challenging PvE experience.

Upon entering the dungeon, you’ll have to kill enemy mobs to collect the Infamy Points required to summon the final boss. Defeating the final boss will allow you to claim the rewards from the boss chest and Corrupted Dungeon rewards. The Infamy Points gained during the encounter will also count towards your leaderboard standing and will also permanently boost rewards earned from Corrupted Dungeons in the future. At the end of a run, a portal will open that will allow you to enter another Corrupted Dungeon or go back to the city with your loot.

To initiate PvP, players will have to first sign up to invade another player’s dungeon through the Demonic Shrine found in every Corrupted Dungeon. The system will then automatically look for a potential target and will automatically transport that player to the unlucky player’s dungeon. Invaders will then need to track down the other player by using the mini-map to figure out which areas have already been cleared or by waiting for them to encounter Watcher Demons that will show their location on the map. The defending player, on the other hand, can choose to kill the invader or destroy the Demonic Shards that appear to banish the invading player from the dungeon. Both players can also use the dungeon’s traps to gain the upper hand over their opponent. Players killed during PvP will lose Infamy Points while the killer will gain points that will also count towards their Infamy standing.
