Apex Legends’ New Storm Point Map Is The Biggest One Yet
Respawn Entertainment is gearing up to release the biggest Apex Legends map to date, and it’s going live next week with the Escape update. The new map, called Storm Point, is a massive tropical island made up of sandy beaches and towering cliffs teeming with a plethora of dangerous wildlife, including giant spiders and hyper-aggressive Prowlers.
“Wildlife Nests are exciting new combat encounters that offer strategic looting options for squads as they plan their paths through to the mid-stages of a match!” explains Respawn. “Each type of wildlife offers different combat challenges and methods of engagement.”
Prowlers, for example, aggressively guard their dens and will warn intruders if they get too close. They also hunt in packs and will come to each other’s aid to defend their territory. Spiders, on the other hand, prefer to engage their prey from afar and will scurry around and constantly reposition themselves.
Storm Point will also be replacing redeploy balloons with the all-new Gravity Cannons. “Step inside of one and it will launch you in a pre-determined direction,” says the devs. “While traveling through the air, you have pitch control and can land to the sides of the receiving points of the Gravity Cannon to avoid traps and other dangers. You also have complete control of your weapons, grenades, tactical abilities, and ultimates when traveling through the air.”
The new map will also feature new points of interest which include an old crash site, a network of cenote caves, loot-filled riverside mills, and a massive lightning rod located on the highest point of the island.
