Ascent Smuggles In A New Interface, Financial Reform
Ascent: The Space Game is a PvE-focused indie space MMO that boasts over one trillion planets. It is an absurdly large universe that rivals even Elite: Dangerous. Today, the game received a new update that affects economies across the universe. You see, the game has a player-elected "President of the universe," essentially. The President currently in office is the first to be elected. His first order of business as the new President was to reform the economy by forcing the cost of "metals and processed" goods down while forcing the price of "raw materials such as silicon and meat" way up. This affects inner planetary systems and is intended to "bring wealth to the poorer galactic citizens by focusing higher prices on easier to produce items."

A bit lower on the political totem pole, planetary mayors are now allowed to ban certain goods from their colonies. Several colonies have already banned "narcotics, cigars, wine, and beer." A few colonies have even banned "meats, grains, and other food items." In response, players have begin smuggling these goods en masse. Mass riots are beginning in colonies with more extreme bans.
Additionally, the game has received a new interface, which can be seen in the screen above. I still feel it has a ways to go but it is a marked improvement over the game's initial interface.
