Astroneer is marking three years of live operation (five if you count its two years in early access) with a celebratory blog and infographics containing interesting stats about the multiplayer sci-fi sandbox game.

Developer System Era Softworks reports that they’ve sold nearly 4 million copies of the game and have counted more than 8.1 million players since its official launch in February 2019. The game averages around 560,000 players a month with a peak daily concurrency of 134,000 players and an all-time peak of over 21,000.

Since it’s full release, the game has also generated over $75.7 million in gross revenue with the highest single day revenue recorded at just over $934,000. Most of the sales came from Steam although Xbox players make up the bulk of the playerbase thanks to the Xbox Game Pass.

Astroneer also expanded into the portable gaming market earlier this year when it launched on Nintendo Switch. The team, however, is tight-lipped about how the game fared on the portable console.

“Digital has been available for just under two months and physical launched on Feb 18th so we aren’t ready to talk about that yet, but know we have been extremely pleased with how Astroneer has sold on Switch,” said Comms and Marketing Lead Joe Tirado. “We peaked in the top 5 globally on the eshop best seller list so interpret that how you will. ;)”
