Black Desert Online Coming Out In China, No Localized Content Planned

Black Desert Online will be making its way to China sometime in the future courtesy of Snail Games. According to an interview with PearlAbyss and Snail Games courtesy of MMO Culture, aside from tweaking the costumes to conform with stricter censorship regulations, the Chinese version of the game will not have unique localized content. This is to ensure that players the world over will be able to enjoy similar content and easily have access to future updates. PearlAbyss, however, has hinted at possibly releasing an exclusive costume.

“We have been talking to Chinese publishers over the past 4 years, and many have shown interest in operating Black Desert,” says PearlAbyss when asked about their partnership with Snail Games. “After much thought, we decided to sign with Snail Games as the company has much experience both in publishing and development, and also have the same thoughts as us in many aspects.”

Fans this side of the world will also be happy to know that PearlAbyss has already revealed Stage 2 Awakening in Taiwan and that the studio has expressed interest in adding new classes to the game, along with new ways to customize characters similar to the awakening system. “[. . .]We do not want to just stop at having new looks for characters through awakening, we are also seeking new features which will allow players to customize characters,” the studio says. “The ultimate goal is to have an ever-changing system through awakening.”
