Black Desert Online Thanks Players For Positive Response To Land Of The Morning Light

Pearl Abyss’ decision to move away from the usual Black Desert Online expansion formula in Land of the Morning Light has paid off, with the expansion drawing an extremely positive response from the community and renewed interest in the nearly-ten-year-old MMORPG.

The expansion opened up the titular zone of Land of the Morning Light, a region inspired Joseon-era Korea, moving away from the traditional monster grinding zones in favor of a more narrative-centered experience featuring eight new boss battles. While some players expressed concerns about limited grinding opportunities and lackluster quests, the overall reception has been positive, with players praising its engaging story, detailed region design, and challenging encounters.

Executive Producer Jaehee Kim took the opportunity to express gratitude to the community, saying that they were initially unsure if the story and setting would resonate with a global audience, which it obviously did.

Despite the positive response, Pearl Abyss acknowledges that there were some issues with the expansion and is actively working to address player feedback. While they won’t be able to implement every suggestion they receive, they promise to act on those that makes sense and improves the game. As a token of appreciation, players can expect to receive an in-game present after the next maintenance downtime.

The Land of the Morning Light expansion is available as a free update for new and returning players. Veteran players, however, will need to complete a certain part of the story to gain access to the new region.
