Black Desert Online: RU Might Be The First Version On Steam, NA/EU Giving Away Character Slots

In a surprise move, GameNet recently posted the Russian version of Black Desert Online to Greenlight. The company has self-hosted all of the games it publishes thus far, but perhaps it is looking to increase the size of the Russian version's playerbase by way of Steam.

As much of Steam's audience is in the West and the company that posted Black Desert Online to Steam is not Kakao Games Europe, many commenters have posted saying that the entry is fake. I can assure you that this is not true—I even played GameNet's version during the brief period that it wasn't region locked—and a quick Google search for "BDO GameNet" will return the official website for Russian version of the game.

If all goes well with the game's time on Greenlight despite many confused users reporting it as a fake, the Russian version of Black Desert Online could very well be the first version on Steam. That being said, if it is, that would be unfortunate for me, as I placed my bet on the South American version being the first on Steam for the office pool after seeing that RedFox Games would be publishing it.

In North American and European Black Desert Online news, Kakao Games Europe is gearing up to give everyone a "Dark Knight Character Slot Expansion Coupon" in preparation for the release of the Dark Knight. Additionally, starting tomorrow, the "Dark Knight Pre-creation event" will begin. The full set of patch notes will be posted tomorrow.
