Bungie Accused of Slowing XP Gains, Confirms It's True, Changes System

This story comes from the Destiny 2 subreddit, where user /u/EnergiserX did a lot of testing when it came to earning XP. The tl;dr of it is, Destiny 2 has been lowering players' XP gains the faster they gain it.

"But surely Bungie wouldn't do that, right?" Players might ask themselves that, as limiting XP earned is a thing of the past! Nowadays, a company might just set XP gains low intentionally, and then force players to be XP boosts. Limited XP gains are just something you see on Eastern MMORPGs, where things such as "fatigue systems" are prominent to limit how much their players play.

Well, most companies don't do that, and no one would expect Bungie to, until Bungie themselves came out and admitted it. XP gains are normally raised during Crucible competitive matches, and the Leviathan raid, but are lowered during Public Events.

"Effective immediately, we are deactivating this system."

And there you have it - fans of public events will be glad to see their favorite method of getting XP has been buffed. Even though those events can sometimes be a snoozefest.

Bungie also states that they will be watching and reviewing XP data, to see if these new, normalized values are meeting expectations, and that any additional updates will be communicated through their official channels, such as their website, and social media.
