Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will reportedly be getting a standalone DMZ mode inspired by Battlestate Games’ hardcore first-person shooter Escape from Tarkov. The rumored multiplayer open-world survival mode will apparently be launching as a standalone free-to-play game like Call of Duty: Warzone.

Activision has yet to confirm the new DMZ mode but What If Gaming reports that it’s set to launch in the first quarter of 2023. This is assuming that Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 meets or exceeds expectations when it comes out later this year. According the news site, the mode has been in development for about four years and has seen numerous changes over the course of its development.

Details are scarce as of the moment although an official announcement is expected for sometime in August. Until then, all we can do is speculate.
