CD Project Red Says Cyberpunk 2077 Was ‘Just A Warm-Up’ As Work Begins On Its Sequel

CD Projekt Red is starting the new year with a brand-new project as it begins work on the sequel for Cyberpunk 2077 from its new Boston office. The sequel currently goes by the codename Orion and the developers are extremely optimistic about its future, saying that the original game was “just a warm-up.”

While the optimism is understandable considering how Cyberpunk 2077 has drastically improved since its nightmare of a launch back in 2020, it still took a lot of time and effort before the developers were able to turn things around. That’s in addition to the long hours that the team poured into the game prior to its disastrous launch.

Hopefully, CD Projekt Red will be able to deliver Orion with the same quality as Cyberpunk 2077 today. If they manage to pull it off, it will likely go down as one of the greatest redemption arcs in video game history, right alongside Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky. It’s probably going to be a few years before we see actual progress on the sequel, but we’ll be sure to keep a watchful eye on its development.
