Cyberpunk 2077 Game Director Steps Down As CD Projekt Red Q1 2022 Profits Take A Dive

cyberpunk 2077 booth magazine bannerThings aren’t looking good for CD Projekt Red following the aftermath of the controversial Cyberpunk 2077 launch late last year. Game director Adam Badowski has stepped down from his position to focus on his other leadership responsibilities within the company as the company sees a fall in profits in the first quarter of 2021.

According to CD Projekt Group’s Q1 2021 Investor Presentation, the company’s profits for the quarter fell by over 50% largely due to Cyberpunk 2077 being taken down from the PlayStation Store. The company was expecting to hit profits of nearly $22 million during the first fiscal quarter of the year but fell extremely short of expectations at just around $9 million.

“The general situation as long as we are not back on the Sony store has not changed,” the company told its investors. “One of the leading marketplaces for us is not available and we generate most of the sales on the PC/digital channels.”

Reuters also reports that the company’s share value took a hit after the Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco and is now down 60%. Meanwhile, the company is also facing four class-action lawsuits over the disastrous launch.
