Diablo Immortal (Mobile) Announced At Blizzcon In Partnership With Netease

Blizzard Entertainment announced a brand new Diablo game today on Mobile titled Diablo: Immortal in partnership with Chinese gaming giant Netease. Diablo: Immortal is a Massively Multiplayer Online Action RPG (MMOARPG) set during the events between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. A playable demo of the game is available at Blizzcon with a release expected sometime in 2019.

Diablo Immortal Gameplay Trailer

The partnership with Netease makes sense as Netease currently publishes every major Blizzard game in China (World of Warcraft, Heroes of the Storm, Diablo 3, and Overwatch). We knew that a big Diablo announcement was coming at Blizzcon, but I expected a Diablo 3 expansion, so this definitely comes as a surprise. Given how big the mobile market is, I'm surprised Blizzard hasn't released a mobile game outside of Hearthstone yet.

Diablo Immortal Cinematic Trailer

Despite the overwhelming number of dislikes on both new Diablo mobile trailers, I suspect it will be a commercial success. Mobile is simply too large of a platform for Blizzard to ignore.
