Doomfist And Orisa Are Being Drastically Reworked For Overwatch 2

Blizzard Entertainment will be making various adjustments to heroes when they make the switch from Overwatch to Overwatch 2, some more drastic than others. Worth noting is Doomfist’s transition from a frontline fighter to a tank role in the upcoming sequel. The damage of his Hand Cannon will be nerfed and his Uppercut ability will be removed in favor of higher health and a new Power Block ability that will work in tandem with Rocket Punch to act like a parry.

“Doomfist’s kit rewards both defensive and offensive playstyles with many high-damage combos,” says the devs. “When he blocks damage for his team, he can quickly charge Rocket Punch, knock enemies back, and potentially stun them for around one second if they are punched into a wall.”

Orisa, on the other hand, will still function as a tank but will be buffed to allow her to be more aggressive and go toe to toe with her enemies. Her health and armor will be increased to allow her to push into the enemy team. Her primary weapon will also fire a projectile that becomes larger and does more damage the closer she is to her targets. Instead of having ammo, the weapon will build up heat as it’s being used which will only dissipate when it’s not being used.

“Her gun encourages her to get close to enemies and play more forward in Overwatch 2,” says the devs. “It’s a micro-stun and can do more damage when there’s a wall behind you.”

She’ll also get a new ability called Javelin Spin which can destroy incoming projectiles, increase her forward movement speed, and deal damage to enemies while also knocking them back, as well as a new Ultimate called Terra Surge.

“Terra Surge is Orisa’s new Ultimate ability. She becomes fortified and pulls in nearby enemies while charging up an area-of-effect attack. This creates a moment for the team to rally around and quickly coordinate combos. However, enemies aren’t bound to the center of Orisa’s pull like a Zarya Graviton Surge, so you will need to collaborate quickly to make the most of this ultimate!” they explain.

Blizzard reminds players that these changes are still works-in-progress and are subject to change as the team gathers more player feedback. You can learn more about the upcoming changes on the Overwatch official site.
