Global Survival Simulator Eco Transitions Into Beta And Steam Early Access

eco building cabinVoxel-based ecosystem simulator Eco from indie studio Strange Loop Games has emerged from Alpha into Beta and Steam Early Access today.

“Enter the world of Eco, a fully simulated ecosystem bustling with thousands of growing plants and animals living their lives. Build, harvest, and take resources from an environment where your every action affects the world around you. An imminent meteor strike threatens global destruction. Can you save the world without destroying it in the process?”

The Beta version of the game rolled out with Patch 7.0 which introduced a number of new flora and fauna into the game world, definable districts, new plant simulation mechanics, reworked tutorials, a more polished HUD, password protected servers, mod support, and better world generation.

"We’re super proud of this release, and want to give a huge thanks to everyone whos supported us from Kickstarter through Alpha,” says Studio Head and Eco Designer John Krajewski. “This is just the beginning, we have big plans going forward and we’ll be inviting the community to be closely involved in supporting it. Stay tuned for more details as we launch our new community site.”

The 3D “Global Surival Game” was initially put up on Kickstarter in August 2018 and managed to raise just over $200,000 during their month-long funding campaign.

Of course, no launch would be complete without a launch trailer. You can check that out right after the break. You can also head over to the Eco Steam Community Page for more info.
