Electronic Arts has released its Q3 financial report which shows a slight revenue increase compared to the same period last year but essentially remained the same year-over-year.

“In Q3, EA delivered high-quality experiences, driving record engagement across some of our biggest franchises and growing our player network. While our teams delivered for our players, the current macro environment impacted Q3 results,” announced Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson. “As we navigate the short-term, we're focused on building for the long-term and remain confident about our future. With amazing talent, proven IP and growing player network, EA is operating from a position of strength.”

Unfortunately, the publisher has apparently decided to cut costs by sunsetting two mobile games from popular franchises, Apex Legends Mobile and the in-development Battlefield mobile game.

“Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence,” reported EA. “It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game.”

The publisher will still continue to support the PC versions of Apex Legends and Battlefield but it looks like its mobile partners are being shown the door.
