Since the launch of Elite Dangerous: Horizons, both the base game and the expansion—which contains the base game—have been available side-by-side on the both the Steam store and Frontier's own storefront. Due to the confusion this has caused, Frontier have opted to change the game's pricing structure.

As of yesterday, the base game is now the required base purchase. It is remaining at its $29.99 price point. The Horizons Season Pass is now paid DLC. Its price has dropped to $37.99 to reflect the fact that it no longer contains the base game. A Deluxe Edition is now available for $59.99, containing the base game, Horizons, and a Pilot Starter Pack. The Starter Pack is a $15.00 pack that contains 12 paint jobs and the male pilot bobblehead.
