Elyon FAQ Confirms Game Will Be Buy-To-Play With Microtransactions, No Airships For Now

elyon ascent infinite realm warp gate bannerElyon Community Manager Yukimura answers questions about the upcoming fantasy MMORPG in an FAQ posted on the fan site Elyon-Air’s Discord channel. In the FAQ, Yukimura confirms that the game will be buy-to-play in the west and will offer in-app purchases just like the Korean version of the game.

Yukimura also touched on the subject of air combat and whether or not it will still be part of the game. Aerial combat and airships were initially showcased as a key feature of the game when it was first revealed at GStar 2017 back when it was still known as Ascent: Infinite Realm. Airships, however, have been conspicuously missing from any marketing material since the developers decided to shift from a steampunk to a fantasy theme and rename the game to Elyon: Ascent Infinite Realm.

“We are aware of the positive community’s feedback regarding the original air combat mechanics for Elyon,” responded Yukimura. “Although we haven’t discussed this in depth yet, we may have plans on this for the future.”

While it seems that the developers aren’t ruling out aerial combat entirely, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be seeing airships in the game in the near future.

As for content updates, Yukimura said that they’re currently working on a 20-player raid and are planning to introduce a class or two every year. Guild content is also something that the developers will be looking into for the future.

Kakao Games and Krafton are gearing up for the game’s western closed beta test which will be kicking off in the next few months. Exact dates for the CBT will be announced later. You can also check out the recently-update English site for more info.
