Escape From Tarkov Compensates Unheard Edition Upgraders With $50 Single-Use Credit

The Escape from Tarkov paid PvE mode debacle continues as BattleState Games makes another controversial decision regarding its insanely overpriced Unheard Edition. The studio unveiled the DLC last month along with the announcement that players will need to purchase it to access the extraction shooter’s upcoming PvE mode.

Naturally, the announcement caused a huge uproar in the community, particularly those who purchased the Edge of Darkness Edition which supposedly included access to all future DLCs for just $150. BattleState, however, insisted that PvE is a “unique feature” and not a DLC.

As compromise, BattleState said that it will be giving Edge of Darkness owners free offline access to PvE content for six months but ultimately gave in and gave them full online access to the game mode when it launched on Thursday.

Edge of Darkness users were also given the option to upgrade to the Unheard Edition for $100, which was later brought down to $50. Those who already bought the upgrade will be given a $50 single-use credit to purchase any of the pre-Edge of Darkness DLCs. Any remaining credit after the purchase will automatically be forfeited.

“Please note that you can only use the compensation once,” BattleState noted. “If the cost of the expansions you have selected is lower than the compensation, the remaining balance cannot be used later.”

As you can probably guess, the studio’s half-baked efforts to appease its players only riled them up even further. Some players also pointed out that most of those who purchased Edge of Darkness likely already purchased prior DLCs which meant that the store credit would be useless to them.

While BattleState has largely addressed the PvE issue, a big chunk of the playerbase has decided to move on to other games following the studio’s string of bad decisions. Meanwhile, the studio is preparing for another server wipe sometime in the next few weeks which could hopefully encourage players to come back for a fresh start.
