Escape From Tarkov: Ride Out The Apocalypse In Your Very Own Hideout
One of the coolest things about a post-apocalyptic world like Escape from Tarkov is getting your very own hideout, fortress, FOB, or whatever you want to call it. Personally, I like building a base from scratch and gathering up supplies and materials to improve it bit by bit. Apparently, this is exactly what players will be faced with in the upcoming survival MMORPG. Battlestate games explains the mechanics behind Hideouts in a recent dev blog:
“Player begin the construction and arrangements of Hideout from the scratch - initially it is found as an abandoned and cluttered up bomb shelter without any means of of life-sustaining. Consistently building and improving the Hideout modules, such as the power generator, water collection system, ventilation, medical treatment facility, recon center, heating, bathroom and many others, players improves various parameters of their characters, such as out-of-raid health, hydration and energy regeneration speed. The player also gets special opportunities for the production of medicines, ammunition and other items from various resources. Recon center improvements provide new opportunities of working with merchants and playing as Scavs and much more.”
Unfortunately, based on a follow-up Q&A post, the interior designer in all of us will have to take a back seat since decorations and moving furniture around are yet to be implementd. We can, however, happily unleash the trigger-happy gun nut living in the deep dark recesses of our mind and go full Rambo in the firing range which comes complete with unlimited ammo for all weapons.
Hideouts are slated to go live during Open Beta testing. Unfortunately, there’s no word from Battlestate on when the Open Beta will actually start.
