EVE Online Revenues And Daily Active Users Increased Significantly In 2016

Last year was the year that EVE Online went free-to-play and I'm sure that you're all wondering how it's done since then. Fortunately for you, CCP Games' financial results for the full year of 2016 were released yesterday and they show an increase in both revenues and daily active users. According to Gamesindustry.biz, the company's 2016 revenues were $86,135,976, an increase of approximately 30% over 2015's $65,703,397. EVE's daily active user count doubled last year, whereas average revenue per user increase by 20%.

Some other interesting points were discussed in the article, as well. When jokingly asked about EVE 2, CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson stated that "EVE is like Facebook. It doesn't make sense to make Facebook 2. EVE is EVE." Pétursson also noted that CCP is also "experimenting with other IP, but making IP is very hard" and that "the main focus is on the EVE IP."
