Evercore Heroes Shuts Down NA Server After Returning To Maintenance Mode

Vela Games is desperately trying to stay afloat after the community’s lukewarm reception of its MOBA/MMO hybrid Evercore Heroes. The game kicked off paid closed beta testing in June but failed to draw in a big enough crowd to support the title and the studio. As a result, Vela Games was forced to reduce its team size and pull the game back into maintenance mode while they rethink their strategy.

Additionally, the studio has shut down the North American server but will keep the European server operational for the time being. “Currently we operate NA & EU servers, but matches will pop on the location with the majority population,” the developers explained. “After looking at the data, we’ve seen this is almost always EU, and as a result we’ll be shuttering the NA server today. For most of you, you’ll notice almost no change as games primarily run on EU at the moment anyway. For others, you may notice a little extra latency in your games.”

Meanwhile, what remains of the development team has shifted its focus to revamping the beleaguered title with the goal of making it more PvE-centric and creating more co-op content. They’ve also removed the paywall for the closed beta test, essentially making it an open beta. To participate in the playtest, all you have to do is create an account on the Evercore Heroes official site.
