Since 2015, Daybreak Gameshas been sending EverQuest 2 accounts that had engaged in illicit activities or violated the terms of use to a prison server called Drunder. Accounts that logged in to the prison server could still play the game as they normally would except that they had no access to customer support. This allowed the developers to punish players without entirely losing their business.

“Drunder is where accounts found to be in violation of our rules may be sent in lieu of total account termination. This is a one-way trip. All of the existing EQII characters on an account will be copied to Drunder and the account will not have access to any other EQII server.”

Daybreak, however, has decided to remove the server for good and unceremoniously took it down earlier this week. All accounts and characters on Drunder have been permanently banned, including innocent players who voluntarily asked to transferred to the server so they can play with their friends.

That’s not all. Since it was the account itself that was permabanned, the ban also included characters on all of Daybreak’s games, including EverQuest, DC Universe Online, and PlanetSide 2.

Players who requested to be transferred to Drunder on purpose and want to recover their accounts are advised to create a new one and submit a support ticket. “Those who have far more information about the inner workings of the server decided to do it this way for a reason,” said Community Manager Angeliana. “[Customer Support] CS awaiting and prepared for tickets regarding this news.”
