EverQuest To Begin Pre-Orders And Beta For Torment Of Velious Expansion Next Week

everquest 18th anniversary bannerIn spite of the recent round of layoffs and realignments at Daybreak Game Company last week, the EverQuest team still seems to be on track for the Torment of Velious expansion release in December. According to a letter from producer Holly “Windstalker” Longdale, the 26th expansion for the classic fantasy MMORPG will be heading into Beta sometime next week.

“As the expansion name suggests, we’re heading back into Velious though events there have significantly altered the landscape. After 20 years, the devs have brought you a new ice shader – for obvious reasons.”

The expansion will raise the level cap from 110 to 115 and will introduce new spells, AAs, and gear, as well as new content including 6 new zones, new quests and raids, and more.

Pre-orders for the upcoming expansion will be available sometime between 10am and 12nn PDT on October 23rd. All pre-orders come with guaranteed Beta access. Daybreak will also be releasing a Family and Friend bundle which includes a tradable copy of the expansion, tradable mounts, a tradable character boost, and the Gnomish Legendary Bundle containing a Clockwork Rhino mount, Gnomish gear, a 40-slot bag, and two (2) shared 50% EXP potions. That’s on top of the items already included in the Standard, Collector, and Premium editions of the game.

A new progression server will also go live on November 5th to celebrate EverQuest 2’s 15th anniversary. The new server, called Miragul, will require a subscription to play and will start at the 2010 House of Thule expansion. “You start as a Level 85 Heroic Character with live server experience rates, and all the trappings of a server that starts with a level cap of 90 with in-game housing, loads of raids, over 800 AAs, and more.”

Daybreak has yet to announce a definite date for the Torment of Velious expansion’s release. Head over to the EverQuest official site to learn more.
