Final Fantasy XIV And Grubhub’s Pizza-Eating Emote Has Caused Quite A Stir
Final Fantasy XIV players are grumbling about not receiving the promised pizza-eating emote from Square Enix’ promotional partner, online food delivery service Grubhub.
The exclusive emote was supposed to be given to players who ordered from the online platform using a given promo code during the promo period. What the ad failed to mention was that they were only giving away a limited number of emotes on a first come, first served basis. To add to the confusion, a support representative reportedly told a complaining customer that they will only be awarding the emote to qualified users who were randomly chosen by an automated system.
The whole mess has resulted in a mob of angry players and started a lucrative reselling market with the pizza-eating emote going for as much as $500 online. Meanwhile, those who were lucky enough to be chosen won’t be getting the emote for another two weeks at most.
