The gods of Olympus are bringing their mythical powers and an arsenal of modern weaponry to bear as the Myths & Mortals update lands on the Fortnite servers after a short delay. The update was originally expected to launch yesterday morning but was pushed back to later in the day due to “an unexpected issue.”

“Pandora’s Box has been opened on the Fortnite Battle Royale Island, bringing Olympus to the battlefield. Olympian legends […] now rule the Island in otherworldly rage. To make matters worse, they’ve brought their powers and weapons with them. Use their mythological means against them in Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths & Mortals!”

The highlight of the update of course is the new seasonal battle pass featuring the new Olympian Outfits inspired by the gods, goddesses, and creatures of Greek mythology, including Cerberus, Medusa, Aphrodite, Artemis, Hades, Poseidon, and the king of the gods himself, Zeus. The Cerberus outfit will automatically be unlocked upon purchasing the battle pass while all other outfits can be unlocked with a little bit of legwork.

The update also introduces new legendary locations all across the Island such as Mount Olympus, the Grim Gate, The Underworld, and Ares’ Brawler’s Battleground. An Ares-themed outfit will also be added next month. New weapons have also been added to Fortnite’s arsenal including the Thunderbolt of Zeus and the Wings of Icarus which will allow you to soar high up into the air and divebomb enemies below. Fly too long though and you’ll risk burning up your wings or crash landing if you take too much damage.

You can learn more about the Myths & Mortals update on the Fortnite official site and watch the gun-toting Greek gods in action in the official season launch trailer below.
