Four-Year-Old ArcheAge Class Action Suit Nears Its End As Both Parties Agree To A Settlement Agreement

archeage beginning bannerUnlike your favorite law drama series, lawsuits usually take longer than a few days before they’re settled. In the case of fantasy MMORPG ArcheAge, it’s taken nearly four years for both parties to finally decide that the lawsuit has dragged on long enough.

Back in 2015, Trion Worlds was hit with a player-led class action lawsuit over a falsely advertised 10% cash shop discount for players who purchased founder’s packs. The lawsuit got stuck in arbitration until Trion Worlds eventually shut down in 2018. This left Gamigo and Golden Gate Games, one of Gamigo’s subsidiaries, with the dissolved company’s assets further complicating matters.

MMOFallout now reports that a settlement agreement is currently in the works. The specifics of the settlement have yet to be disclosed but the filing notes show that Trion Worlds’ insurance company Navigators Insurance will be handling the settlement thereby absolving Trion Worlds from any liability related to the lawsuit.

“Plaintiffs and Navigators Insurance Company, the insurer for the officers and directors of Defendant Trion Worlds, Inc., have reached an agreement in principle to settle this case on class wide basis. The proposed settlement will provide for notice to the class members of the proposed settlement, payments to members of the proposed settlement class who file claims, and will release Defendant Trion Worlds, Inc. from liability for the claims asserted in this action. The parties are working to document all of the terms of the settlement.”
