Free to Play Survival Game Once Human Launches July 9, 2024
Once Human, the latest free to play title by Netease, launches July 9, 2024. The game mixes a handful of popular genres together to create something that is quite unique. Billed as a multiplayer open-world survival game, Once Human is set in a horror-tinged post apocalyptic future.
The game opens as what seems like a horror themed shooter, but quickly introduces open world survival features where players gather resources like wood and stone to construct a house. There's even a scene where players parachute into the open world, a clear nod to PUBG. What sets the game apart from a crowded field is the ample serving of PvE content to go along with the standard PvP fare within the genre.
Despite receiving 'mixed' reviews so far on Steam, the game hit a peak player count over 80,000 on its release day. Once Human can be played via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A cross-platform mobile launch is scheduled for later this year. The game can be difficult to navigate initially, and the content is of inconsistent quality. But even with those shortcomings, its something worth trying just for the novel experience.
